  Delta Renovations has a unique business model that totally failed me. They charge a $1500 fee for plans that we would not own if we did not choose to use them. This was clear to me, so I was very careful to align with the scope and high level estimates of the project prior to paying this non-refundable fee. We liked Delta's portfolio and were excited to hear their ideas for our home. Before I paid, I had three other quotations for the work and Delta's estimate of $150,000-$175,000. While this was higher than my other quotations, it was within the ballpark. However, when Delta came back (with my $1500 in their bank account), they quoted $290,000!!! This was outrageous, it was nearly double the number they put in my head. They offered no apologies and NO follow up phone calls. They were not willing to be flexible and I had no recourse to recover my sunk costs.
  
  Of course we went with another company (Thrive) and we're nearing the end of our project. The project is on-budget (not quite $150,000) and on-time.
